About Heikru Hidongba

The Heikru Hitongba festival  in Manipur is the yearly function. It is the watercraft race in Manipur that is firmly identified with the Govindajee Temple. The gods from the sanctuary and the royal residence are made to administer the race. The race happens on a 16 meter wide channel in Manipur. Prior to the start of the pontoon race, the icon of Shri Vishnu is introduced who should direct the capacity of Heikru Hitongba.

The Brahmins give contributions of gold and silver before the managing divinities and icons. The spirits of the crew members are high amid the Heikry Hitongba celebration and each vessel cruised by ious rowers attempt their best to oust the other watercraft with a considerable measure of vigor. The month of September is the ideal opportunity for praising the Heikru Hitongba.
