A dam on the Krishna River, Nagarjunasagar, is on a site once the capital of an old dynasty in South India. Buddhist monasteries and monuments have been moved to Nagarjuna’s Hill, an island in the middle of the reservoir.

You will see panoramic scenery around the dam, one of the tallest worldwide. The lake formed by the dam is the third largest artificial lake. Nagarjuna Konda, where the early Buddhist excavations were relocated in the middle of the waters of Nagarjuna Sagar, can be reached by boat.

This place is flocked by visitors throughout the monsoon when all the dam gates are opened. Astounding views of the water falling through the 26 gates from more than 100 meters make it worth visiting.

This place is laden with many ancient temples and was once the hub of Vedic learning. Elgandal Fort is historically significant and located on the banks of the Manair River. Karimnagar, a city steeped in history and culture, is known for its ancient temples and the historically significant Elgandal Fort. It is also home to the unique craft of silver filigree work, which originated here over 400 years ago. Visitors can buy jewellery and household items made in the filigree style from the city's handicraft shops.

Located amongst the Nallamala woods in Kurnool, it is home to one of the 12 jyotirlingas, the Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple, built by King Harihar Raya of Vijaynagar. The Bhramaramba Devi Temple is another historical gem to explore. Tourists also enjoy a dip in the Krishna River, known for its medicinal properties.
Akkamahadevi caves cannot be missed. They have a Shivalinga deep inside and draw many pilgrims. Srisailam Dam is known for its breeding populace of crocodiles in the dam's down waters.

Kurnool is a popular holiday destination near Hyderabad. The Hundri and Neeva waterways pass through the city, providing a tropical climate. Yaganti is famed for the Uma Maheshwara Temple, constructed between the fifth and sixth centuries and is splendid.
One of the unique features of this temple is the statue, which is called Ardhanareeswara, which means half-female. This is the only Shiva temple in India with an idol of Lord Shiva and not a Shivalinga. There is a water reservoir in the temple known as Agastya Pushkarni, which gets water from the hills and is holy. Maha Shivratri is celebrated with zeal, and the place is flooded with devotees.

Situated on the banks of the Krishna River and surrounded by the Indrakeeladri Hills, Vijayawada is the second most packed city of Andhra Pradesh. “Vijayawada '' refers to one mythical legend that Goddess Durga killed Mahishasura. As she was triumphant, the place was called “Vijayawada '', " meaning “the place of victory”. The hills were known as “Indrakeeladri Hills'' as Indra and his acquaintances often visited them. The river Krishna, an enduring water supply with the Buckingham Canal on the river’s southern bank, is Vijayawada’s most substantial feature.

Sangameshwara Temple built between 696 and 733 AD by the Chalukya King Vijayaditya Satyashraya, is measured as one of the oldest temples in India. Its style is Dravidian, and the backdrop of trimmed gardens makes the brown facade even more attractive. A large Nandi statue is in the temple premises before the main sanctum.

Agastya Lake is close to these temples. It is a relaxing point known for its healing properties. Badami is situated in a valley at the foot of the red sandstone projection supervising the Lake. Tipu Sultan built Badami Fort in the 18th century. Its ruins are perched on a cliff. The site is good for clicking some beautiful snaps.

Located in dense forests, the Kadam River is the inception point of this waterfall, which falls from 150 feet with supreme grace and beauty.
Indian mythology states that King Dushyant fell in love with Shakuntala here. Someshwara Swamy temple is situated close to the waterfalls, and several devotees visit it, especially during Maha Shivratri. Almost 130 km from the city centre is the meeting of River Godavari and Mangira in Basar. This is the location of the Basar Saraswati temple, which is dedicated to Saraswati. This temple was built throughout the Chalukya dynasty, and it was here that Ved Vyas observed penance.
