About Rajyotsava
Rajyotsava or more specifically, Karnataka Rajyotsava denotes the birth of Karnataka. On November 1, 1956, all the Kannada speaking provinces in the south was merged together to form the state of Karnataka, and on this day every year, the state celebrates its formation.
The State Formation Day is an official government holiday and on this day the government announces the honours list of the people who will be awarded the Rajyotsava awards by the state government in recognition of their contributions to the state. The state flag is hoisted and the CM and Governor will address the people after which cultural events like Kannada book releases, community festivals, concerts, orchestra and fairs will conducted.
