FOOD
The traditional cuisine of Himachal Pradesh has heavy influences of Punjab, Tibet and is lip smacking and spicy. The staple food of Himachali people is dal, curry and rice. Meat is a highlight of their cuisine and is prepared with aromatic spices like cinnamon, red chilies and clove. Kullu trout, Grilled fishes and Chicken Anardana are some of the dishes that will get any of the food lovers happy.
Dham is a festive meal prepared by hereditary Brahmin chefs. It includes rice, green lentils, red kidney beans and sweet rice.
In dessert, the specialty of Himachal Pradesh is Sidu and Patande which is made of wheat and resembles a pancake.

Himachal Pradesh is known for handicraft, shawls, Tibetan carpet, handicrafts and jewellery made of semi precious. The carpets are bright in color and depict traditional patterns of dragons, trees, and flowers. Wooden items made from walnut and chestnut trees are a must buy from the beautiful state. Bangles made of horsehair, paintings depicting scenes from Hindu mythology are a specialty of Chamba district.
How To Reach Himachal Pradesh
BY BUS
Reaching the state by bus is one of the most preferred options among tourists. The state government buses are usually small and rickety whereas the private buses are well maintained and help the tourists to reach from the neighboring state and also travel within Himachal Pradesh.
BY TAXI
Three national highways cross the state of Himachal Pradesh and that makes it easily accessible by road. Private taxi services run from ious nearby places like Delhi, Punjab, Chandigarh and Leh and help tourists reach their desired destination.
BY TRAIN
Trains are not popular among tourists when it comes to going to Himachal. The terrain is hilly and hence only two narrow gauge lines from Kalka to Simla and Pathankot to Joginder Nagar are connected through trains.

The three main airports in Himachal are - Jabbarhatti near Shimla, Gaggal near Kangra and Bhuntar near Kullu. Buses and cars are available from the airport to help you reach your destination.
