Kalpa

In northern India, Kalpa is a big and beautiful town of Kinnaur district in the Himalayas. People who inhabit Kalpa, are called Kinnauris. A syncretism of Hinduism and Buddhism is followed by locals here. This gorgeous town is famous for its many temples which are dedicated to Buddhists and Hindu gods and goddesses.

Apple orchards are one of the main attractions of this town. Below this town, Sutlej River hurtles and Chilgoza forests frame the winding mountain road. Earlier, this serene place was rarely visited by travelers but now, visitors often come here only to get amazed by the divine view they get to see from this town. If someone dwells deep into the magnificence of this slumber settlement, he might get the feeling of sitting in a mountain’s lap. Also, an observer can have a look at the sacred shivling rock on the Kailash Mountain from this beautiful town. Another interesting thing is that people can also catch this sacred rock changing color at different hours of the day.

Since this place is highly elevated, this village enjoys a temperate climate with short summers from June to September and long winters from October to May. If you’re planning to visit this place during winter time, then you’re advised to carry heavy woolens for the times when temperature goes below freezing point around -15 degree to - 20 degree.
