About Nurpur
Nurpur is a city and a municipal council in Kangra district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It was earlier piece of the Nurpur State controlled by the Pathania faction of Tomara Rajputs since the eleventh century AD. The capital of the kingdom was at Pathankot in the past known as Paithan, now in Punjab. Nurpur was established in the eleventh century by Raja Jhet Pal, who was the more youthful sibling of the leader of Delhi. It achieved its top amid the rule of Raja Basu, from 1580 to 1613, who fabricated a noteworthy fortress that can even now be seen today. Prior Nurpur was known with the name of Dhameri.
This was changed when it was visited by Queen Nur Jehan, the spouse of the Mughal ruler Nuruddin Salim Jahangir, who controlled between 1569– 1627. As per the nearby legend, the ruler was so awed by magnificence and extravagance of town that she chose to remain there for whatever is left of her life. This choice made the neighborhood organization stress since the Mughal realm around then were extending crosswise over India and the nearby pioneers of Dhameri did not need their serene town to be an essential issue for Mughal mastery and affected by outside governmental issues.
