Batal

Batal is a little town on the Trans-Himalayan range in Lahaul and Spiti region. Chandra Tal Lake is adjacent to it. It is at the northern piece of Himachal Pradesh. The National Highway 21 from Chandigarh by means of Mandi, Manali, etc., passes through Rohtang La at a separation of 51 KM from Manali.

In the wake of intersection 1 KM traverse of Rohtang La it drops to bank of stream Chandra streaming east to west in Lahaul and Spiti Valley. Here the street is devided, on westen side left it goes to Leh by means of Keylong and on esatern side it connectes Kaza by means of Batal, at that point meets NH22 which comes through Kinnaur.
