About Vairamudi

Arrangements have been made for the famous Vairamudi festival to be held on Thursday at the temple town of Melkote in Mandya district. Pilgrims from all over India and even abroad will participate in the festival the key feature of which is the procession of Cheluva Narayanaswami's idol adorned with a diamond crown known as Vairamudi. The main temple has been decked up for the occasion and attractions of the place include Kalyani and temple towers.

The authorities have taken steps to provide drinking water and created facilities for sanitation. Special bus services have been arranged from Bangalore, Mysore, Mandya, Tumkur and other places to Melkote. Major temples in the town too have been given a facelift by way of special decorations befitting the occasion. Security has been beefed up for the smooth conduct of the festivities. The authorities have ensured emergency medical services.
