About High Times Cannabis Cup

Very unique in its concept and proceedings, the High Times Cannabis Cup is one of the much awaited events in Netherlands. The capital city hosts this show during the week of Thanksgiving every year. This is essentially a marijuana event that invites visitors from all sections of the society. As we all know, marijuana is a strong-smelling plant which is the major ingredient of cannabis, a soft drug smoked or chewed for euphoric effect. Though illicit in many parts of the world, the use of marijuana has been decriminalized in some parts of Netherlands. This is a major boost to this event. The inception of Cannabis Cup goes back to 1987 when Steven Hager organized the first High Times Cannabis Cup. Since then it continues to be a popular event where a team of VIP judges sample and vote for their favorite marijuana strains. The prizes come in different category- best new product, best booth, best glass, best hash and best Nederhash. Much of the marijuana that takes part in this competition come from the different coffee shops around Amsterdam. In a very recent development, the organizers have formed the Medical Cannabis Cup - an event that celebrates the medical marijuana movement in America. The competition is not the only component of this festival. A visitor can have a real good time here in the live music concerts, comedy shows and other entertainment arrangements.
