About Thrissur Pooram
A radiant celebration celebrated with an excellent show of caparisoned elephants, astonishing parasols, and percussion music, the Thrissur Pooram is a great scene consolidating the profound and social pith of Kerala. Celebrated in the Malayalam month of medam April-May, the pooram is held at the Thekkinkadu Maidanam in Thrissur.
Thought to be the mother of all poorams, this yearly sanctuary celebration was the mind offspring of Shakthan Thampuran, the Maharaja of Kochi, who sorted out the celebration with the investment of 10 sanctuaries Paramekkavu, Thiruvambadi Kanimangalam, Karamucku, Laloor, Choorakottukara, Panamukkampally, Ayyanthole, Chembukkavu, Neythilakavu.
The celebration wears an enchanting line-up of energetically decked up elephants and is set apart by the kudamattom function. Including quick and musical changing of brilliantly shaded and sequined parasols, the kudamattom function is one among the features and is a distinctly watched occasion.
