Kanhirangad Sree Vaidyanatha Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. He is worshipped here because the curer of illnesses Vaidya Nathan and the temple is well-known for the powerful recuperation skills. It is believed that Lord Shiva here is self-originated. The annual Thirvathira pageant in the Malayalam month of Dhanu December – January is famous. Sivaratri is likewise celebrated right here.

The temple also has an annual Kaliyattam competition on tenth of the Malayalam month Dhanu Valiya Bhagavathy Theyyam and Ullattil Bhagavathi Theyyam are the Theyyams appearing right here. It is assumed that these two goddesses are the watch and ward workforce of Lord Vaidyanathan here.
