About Ochira Kali

The yearly two day customary Ochira Kali celebration started at the Ochira Padanilam front line, 32 kilometers from here on Thursday. Recognizing the memorable medieval period fight between the past Kayamkulam and Ambalapuzha kingdoms, the Ochira Kali celebration is hung on the initial two days of the Malayalam month of Mithunam. The celebration is connected to the Ochira Parabrahma sanctuary and imprints the headway of the storm.

It includes a ridicule fight battled ceremoniously to the sound of drums from the water logged padanilam near the sanctuary. Men and even young men dressed as warriors enter the wetland, split into two gatherings and take part in the ridicule fight utilizing sticks rather than swords and sprinkling water at each other.
