Today’s highlight is the Taroko National Park. Drive along the East Coast to Hualien and enjoy spectacular views on the Qingshui Cliffs, one of the world’s highest. Walk alongside a picturesque river through the mysterious Shakadang Valley before proceeding to Taroko Gorge. The Yanzikou Trail (also known as Swallow Grotto) will take visitors through the most narrow point of the gorge where several hundred meters high marble walls are facing each other. Not far from the gorge lies the Taroko Village Hotel, a hotel opened and operated by one of Taiwan’s aboriginal tribes. The hotel is surrounded by pure nature and offers beautiful mountain views. In the evening you can enjoy a traditional buffet and watch aboriginal performances.
