About Ka Pom-Blang Nongkrem
Ka Pomblang Nongkrem or Shad Nongkrem is the most important and expound festival of the Khasis in Meghalaya. This five day long brilliant celebration, is held every year in November at Smit, the capital of the Khyrem Syiemship close Shillong. It is an event for thanksgiving to the almighty Gddess Ka Blei Synshar for a rich collect and thriving of the general population.
An important piece of this festival is Pomblang Ceremony, at which goats offered by subjects to the 'Syiem' of Khyrem, are relinquished and contributions are made to the predecessor and ancestress of the decision group and the divinity of Shillong top. The 'Syiem' is the authoritative leader of the Hima. 'Ka Syiem Sad', the oldest sister of the lord is the main minister who manages the services. A purification function of the Tangmuri as ruler of the melodic instruments, frame some portion of the custom. After the religious customs, on the fourth day, Khasi people, wearing conventional magnificence, play out the acclaimed Nongkrem dance.
