About International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

The International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination is observed every year on 21 March. On that day, in 1960, police opened fire and killed 69 individuals at a serene show in Sharpeville, South Africa, against the politically-sanctioned racial segregation pass laws. Declaring the day in 1966, the United Nations General Assembly approached the universal group to try harder to dispose of all types of racial discrimination.

The UN General Assembly approached the worldwide group to expand its endeavors to kill all types of racial segregation when it broadcasted the day as an UN Day of recognition in 1966. It additionally approached every single world state and associations to take an interest in a program of activity to battle prejudice and racial segregation in 1983. It held the World Conference against Racism and Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance in 2001. The UN proceeds with its work to battle against all types of racial bigotry.
