This ekadashi is mainly in South India, particularly in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. The popular belief is that the Vishnu Sahasranama Stotram or the thousand names of Vishnu were revealed to the Pandavas on this day by Bhisma, their great grand father. It is said that Bhishma was lying in a bed of arrows after the Great War in Mahabharat when he revealed the thousand names of Vishnu. Chanting Vishnu Sahasranama on the day is said to be very good
