About Murten
Murten is a municipality in the Vieu district of the Canton District of Friborg, Switzerland. It is located on the southern edge of Morat Lake also called Lake Murten. The Morat is situated between Bern and Lausanne and is the capital of the Seek / Lake district of Canton of Friborg. This is mainly one of the municipalities with the majority of German speakers in French-speaking Canton of Frange. On January 1, 1975, merged with the municipality of the former municipality of Berg M. Murrayen. Subsequently, in January 1991, by the former municipality of Alta Vila and the former municipality of Buchslane on January 1, 2013.
On January 1, 2016, the former municipalities of Courtleven, Juice, Lertigen and Salvenchet merged into Morte's. The oldest archaeological tracts of a settlement around Morat are from Mesolithic 8200-555 BC. Mesolithic weapons are mostly small flint for use in weapons or tools. These flats were mostly built in Murtan-Combat and Murtan-Ober Prehal in the areas of Swampy Terai in the east of the city. Although many of these fleet are in museums, exact search sites were not properly documented and later lost or covered by excavation. Several other sites were discovered during the construction of the A1 motorway in 1976-95.
