1. Church of the Sacred Herat of Jesus

This was elevated to the status of a Basilica in 2011. The grand tower is decorated with stained glass panels. It has life-size glass paintings of the 28 saints of the Church and others depicting Jesus’s life. Grand celebrations are organized on Christmas, New Year, and Easter each year.

8. Ousteri Wetland and National Park
This is the most popular freshwater lake in Pondicherry. The wetland is around an artificial Ousteri Lake, locally called Osudu Lake. The International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources ranks it amongst the most significant wetlands in Asia.
The Vijayanagara rulers constructed the 500-year-old lake. Spread over more than 390 hectares, it preserves several indigenous flora and fauna.

10. French War Memorial
The French War Memorial is situated at Goubert Avenue. It was built in 1937 and inaugurated by Governor Crocicchia in 1938 to honour the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the First World War. You can visit the memorial between 10 AM and 5 PM every day of the week.
It is well-lit every year on the 14th of July, on the occasion of the French National Day. People come here to pay their homage to the soldiers who fought for them. Beyond the architectural beauty, a tale of the bravery of the war heroes is engraved on every brick.
