About Hillcrest
Hillcrest is a suburb in south-jap Hamilton in New Zealand. The suburb is the house to the University of Waikato and consequently has a massive student populace. It is located on the east side of the Hamilton Town Belt, a chain of public parks that run from the Hamilton Gardens to Ruakura in its eastern segment. The place changed into formerly known as Steele's Hill, named after Capt. W. Steele. Much of the region became blanketed in orchards in the early 1900s. It became named Hillcrest by the Waikato County Council inside the 1940s when the vicinity commenced growing as a suburb. Hillcrest began part of Hamilton in 1949 with the fifth boundary extension.
Significant development occurred throughout the Fifties and Nineteen Sixties. The major campus of the University of Waikato changed into established in 1964. In 2010 the college had 13089 college students enrolled, the general public based on the Hillcrest campus. According to the 2006 census, Hillcrest has a population of 8541.
