Lepchajagat

Lepchajagat is a small village located in the vicinity of Darjeeling. The village is set against the Himalayan hills and surrounded by coniferous forests. It offers a breath-taking view of Mt. Kanchenjunga and its surrounding snow clad peaks. Frequented by nature lovers, Lepchajagat is the perfect holiday destination if one prefers mountains over anything else.

The village gets its name from two words, lepcha and jagat. Lepcha refers to the indigenous population of the village while jagat means world. It is an ideal offbeat destination, situated at a distance from the hustle bustle of the town of Darjeeling. The peaceful vibe coupled with amazing scenery makes it worth a visit. The village has been converted to a reserve forest area by the West Bengal Forest Development Corporation.

The picturesque hill stations of Darjeeling, Mirik and Kurseong are located nearby. Visitors can also treat themselves to the famous Darjeeling Tea.
