About Goalpara
Goalpara region is a regulatory area of the Indian province of Assam, India. It was a royal state controlled by the Koch lords and the then leader of the unified kingdom. Today the past Goalpara locale is separated into Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon, Dhubri, and Goalpara area. The name of the locale Goalpara is said to have initially gotten from ‘Gwaltippika’ meaning ‘Guwali village’ or the town of the drain men. The history of Goalpara returns to a few centuries. In light of the Chinese explorer ‘Hiuentsang’ report, Sir Edward Gait had inferred that the recent capital of the province of Kumar Bhaskar Varman was either in Goalpara region or in Cooch Behar.
The locale went under British administer in 1765. Prior to this, the zone was under the control of the Koch tradition. It was additionally part of more prominent British Bengal. In 1826 the British got to Assam and Goalpara was attached to Assam in 1874, alongside the production of region central station at Dhubri. On 1 July 1983 two locale were part from Goalpara: Dhubri and Kokrajhar. On 29 September 1989 Bongaigaon locale was made from parts of Goalpara and Kokrajhar. The area central command are situated at Goalpara.
