It is a native village on the coast line. It is widely known as the village of the famous Marathi poet, KaviKeshavsooot. His house has now been converted to a hostel.

This beautiful place is famous for the Ashram of Swami Swaroopanand, who was a divine leader who influenced an entire generation of Maharastrians.
Velneshwar:
A long 35km drive or a boat ride will lead the way to the serene village Velneshwar. It has a rock free beach and is flocked by pilgrims especially in the months of February and March to visit the old Shiva Temple during the Hindu Festival of Mahashivratri.
