About Thiruvilwamala Niramala Festival
Niramala, the once a year competition celebrated at Thiruvilwamala Vilwadrinatha temple in Thrissur. Celebrated on the first Thursday within the Malayalam month of Kanni Mid September, the Niramala programmes will start at five.30 am with Ashtapadi. Nagaswaram, Melam, Seeveli and Panchavadyam are the essential highlights of the pageant. The programmes will start with unmarried and triple Thayambakas with the intention to be accompanied through the procession of caparisoned elephant. The celebrations will finish with the aid of Friday morning.
Ekadeshi in the Malayalam month of Vrishchikam November – December is likewise celebrated here. The main deities of Thiruvilwamala Vilwadrinatha temple are the Lord Rama and his brother Lord Laskhaman. The Punarjani Caves, placed about 2 ½ km from this temple are herbal tunnels in a rocky cliff and it's miles believed that if you comes out of the cave you will have the privilege of being reborn. Only men are allowed to undergo the caves. This is one of the first-rate events.
