About Nalwari Fair

Celebrated with great pomp and show since colonial times, Nalwari fair is an awesome stage for all the cattle merchants to meet and do business. The celebration was begun by W. Goldstein, who was the administrator of Shimla in 1889. He was so inspired with the type of steers created in Himchal Pradesh that he chose to organize a fair where cattle could be purchased and sold here.

The prime fascination of the Nalwari Festival is the Bullock trade. This week long celebration attract dealers, agents and visitor from the whole way across India. Nalwari Festival is the time when shopaholics can snatch some fascinating nearby antiquities like jwellery, works of art and folk art. A wrestling match is also organized during the celebration.
