About Marktrock
The university town of Leuven of Belgium becomes noisy and loud with music and cheer during the Marktrock. A power packed and crowd puller event that it is, the word 'Marktrock' comes from the Dutch word- 'markt' which means market. The first edition of the event was held in the year 1982 and it has consistently grown over the period of time to become one of Europe's biggest urban music festivals with over 350,000 visitors each year.
In its history of over 27 years, more than 1500 artists performed at Marktrock and it has been the launch pad for several budding Belgian artists.
