About Himora
Humera is a city in Kafta Humera woreda in the Tigray Region of Ethiopia. It is placed inside the Mi'irabawi Zone of the Tigray Region at longitude and latitude 14°18′N 36°37′E, with an elevation of 585 metres above sea level and the Tekezé river runs to the west. Humera is the final essential Ethiopian metropolis south of the border with Eritrea and Sudan, and is considered to be a strategically vital gateway to Sudan.
Prior to the Ethiopian revolution, big agricultural groups had been set up to grow soybean and different crops for export. By 1971, there had been 700,000 hectares being farmed. Humera is part of the Wolqayt-Tsegede area, which traditionally has been a part of the previous province of Semien. During the Ethiopian Civil War, Teranafit and its successor, the Ethiopian Democratic Union, drew an awful lot in their support from the economic farmers of Humera and Wolqayit, and gained manipulate of Humera in early 1977; Derg forces with tanks and armored automobiles retook Humera on 10 June, and the officials of the EDU fled to Sudan.
