Abiy Addi

Abiy Add is a city in primary Tigray, Ethiopia. Abiy Addi is surrounded with the aid of Kola Tembien woreda. Abiy Addi owed its importance inside the nineteenth century due to its vicinity at the "King's Road", on the factor wherein the road south from Adwa split, one branch taking travelers to Debre Tabor and the opposite to the Lake Ashenge location. The British explorer Charles Beke handed via this town which he called "A'biyad" 15 April 1843, and described it later as "the main region of Tembien, and a huge marketplace-town."

However, in later years the fortunes of the town varied. By 1890, site visitors described Abiy Addi as a small market town which treated various imported items, which include mirrors made in France, cotton material from Manchester and Mumbai, as well as the usual local produce. Writing a few years later, Augustus B. Wylde described the Abiy Addi marketplace, hung on Saturdays, as of medium size.
