Guwahati - Shillong
On arrival at Guwahati Airport/Railway station driver will pick you up and proceed to Shillong: SHILLONG- The capital of the state of Meghalaya and home to the Khasi tribe. Shillong has rightly earned the sobriquet of "Scotland of the East" owing to the rolling hills, beautiful scenery and climate. On the way to Shillong you will visit the beautiful Umiam Lake, a major tourist attraction where you can have lunch also, it is located just before entering to Shillong. Reach hotel and check in, after some leisure you can also visit local market to enjoy the local cuisines and night life of the city. • Ward's Lake - Located in the heart of the city, this horse-shoe shaped lake is a popular spot to take a lazy walk or admire the green lawn dotted with multi-coloured flowers. Named after Sir William Ward, the then Chief Commissioner of Assam, who initiated the plan for the construction of this lake, which was later constructed by Colonel Hopkins in the year 1894, this lake is nature at its very best. • Elephant falls - Renamed as Elephant Falls by the British, who found it difficult to pronounce the local name, the waterfall is believed to have gotten its name from a huge elephant-shaped rock near it. Though the rock was destroyed in an earthquake, the name remained. Make the best use of this waterfall and shed your inhibitions to take a dip in cold, clear water. Later in the evening have your dinner and overnight stay at Hotel in Shillong.
