About Yichang
Yichang is a prefecture-level city situated in western Hubei area, China. It is the second biggest city in the region after the capital, Wuhan. The Three Gorges Dam is arranged inside its administrative area, in Yiling District. At the 2010 list, its masses was 4,059,686 inhabitants whom 1,350,150 lived in the created or metro area made of Yiling, Xiling, Wujiagang and Dianjun urban region as Xiaoting District are not yet urbanized. In out of date conditions Yichang was known as Yiling. True records demonstrate that in the year 278 BC, in the midst of the Warring States time allotment, the Qin general Bai Qi set fire to Yiling.
In 222 AD Yichang was moreover the site of the Battle of Yiling, in the midst of the Three Kingdoms Period. Under the Qing Guangxu Emperor, Yichang was opened to outside business as a trading port after the Qing and Great Britain agreed to the Chefoo Convention, which was set apart by Sir Thomas Wade and Li Hongzhang in Chefoo on 21 August 1876. The imperial government set up a course association there and began creating workplaces. Since 1949, more than 50 wharves with a total united length of in excess of 15 kilometers 9.3 mi have been worked at the port.
