About Amos
Amos is a town in northwestern Quebec, Canada, on the Harricana River. It is the seat of Abitibi Regional County Municipality. Amos is the fundamental town on the Harricana River, and the littlest of the three essential towns — after Rouyn-Noranda and Val-d'Or — in the Abitibi-Temiscamingue locale of Quebec. Its principle assets are spring water, gold and wood items, including paper.
In 2012, Quebec Lithium Corp. re-opened Canada's first lithium mine, which had worked as an underground mine from 1955– 65. They are intending to cut an open pit mine over pegmatite embankments. The pegmatite is around 1% lithium carbonate. The mine is around 60 kilometers 37 mi north of Val d'Or, 38 kilometers 24 mi southeast of Amos, and 15 kilometers 9.3 mi km west of Barraute. It is in the upper east corner of La Corne Township. Access to the mine is through cleared street from Val d'Or.
The littler networks of Lac-Gauvin and Saint-Maurice-de-Dalquier are likewise inside the civil limits of Amos. Amos was the primary colonization point for the district of Abitibi, with colonization starting in 1910. The region was built up in 1914 while the city itself was contracted in 1925. The name of the city originated from the family name of the spouse of Sir Lomer Gouin, at that point head of Quebec.
