Spielberg

Spielberg bei Knittelfeld is a metropolis placed in the Bezirk Murtal in Styria, Austria. The metropolis of Spielberg, with a population of about five,000 inhabitants, is placed north of the Mur inside the east of Aichfeld, between the cities of Zeltweg and Knittelfeld. The municipal area of Knittelfeld has grown collectively with a part of the township. From 1986 to 2009 Spielberg became a Marktgemeinde. On October 1, 2009 it have become a “Stadtgemeinde”. Within the district you can find both municipal and countrified mintages.

The township is composed of nine Katastralgemeinden. Pausendorf is the predominant Katastralgemeinde with 1500 population. The Katastralgemeinde Spielberg is handiest a small part of the township however gives the complete municipality its name. Spielberg is home to the Red Bull Ring. From 1970 till 1987 and from 1997 until 2003 the Grand Prix of Austria passed off there. In 2014, it returned to the Formula 1 calendar.
