About Lochau
Lochau is a municipality inside the Austrian nation of Vorarlberg. It is placed on Lake Constance, in the Bregenz district close to the border to Germany. About 50.3% of the municipality's region is woodland. The Pfander mountain is part of the municipality, additionally being the main mountain above Bregenz. In the west, the Leiblach river forms the border to the German rural district of Lindau. The Habsburgs reigned over their Vorarlberg lands alternately from Tyrol and Further Austria. From 1805 to 1814 the municipality belonged to Bavaria, then again to Austria. In 1861 it have become part of the Austrian Federal State of Vorarlberg.
During World War II, a subcamp of Dachau concentration camp changed into positioned here. Between 1945 and 1955 the municipality become a part of the French career sector. Upon defeat of Nazi Germany in World War II, the triumphant Allies asserted joint authority and sovereignty over 'Germany as an entire', defined as all territories of the former German Reich west of the Oder–Neisse line, having d the destruction of Nazi Germany on the death of Adolf Hitler.
