Masvingo is a city in south-eastern Zimbabwe and the capital of Masvingo Province. The city is close to Great Zimbabwe, the national monument from which the country takes its name. Masvingo is close to Lake Mutirikwi, its recreational park, the Kyle dam and the Kyle National Reserve wherein there are many distinctive animal species. The town become known as Fort Victoria till 1982, when its name changed into in brief modified to Nyanda.
