Thomson is a city in Georgia, United States. The populace was 6,778 at the 2010 evaluation. The city is the province seat of McDuffie County. Thomson's moniker is "The Camellia City of the South", to pay tribute to the a huge number of camellia plants all through the city. Thomson was established in 1837 as a station on the Georgia Railroad .
Thomson, initially called Slashes, was established in 1837 as a warehouse on the Georgia Railroad. The Old Rock House, worked in 1785, is said to be one of Georgia's most established reported houses with its unique outline in place. Worked by Thomas Ansley, the house is said to be the home of predecessors of previous president Jimmy Carter.
