At the episode of King Philip's War in 1675, Scarborough was an imperative waterfront settlement with more than one hundred houses and one thousand head of steers. Situated around 7 miles 11 km south of Portland, Scarborough is a piece of the Portland– South Portland– Biddeford, Maine metropolitan factual zone. The populace was 18,919 at the 2010 statistics.
By 1676, the town had been laid to squander because of the war - a few pioneers were executed and others were kidnapped by the Native Americans. In this manner, Massachusetts sent fighters joined by Indian partners in 1677 to secure the town for resettlement.
