St. Francisville is a town in, and the parish seat of, West Feliciana Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population became 1,712 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town of St. Francisville become established in 1809, and some of historical systems from that period nevertheless exist. Called "the town miles long and yards extensive" as it became developed atop a narrow ridge overlooking the Mississippi River, it was the commercial and cultural middle of the encircling plantation country.
Below St. Francisville's bluffs, some other early agreement known as Bayou Sara have been installed by way of French colonists inside the early 1790s. It was at one time the biggest antebellum Mississippi River port between New Orleans and Memphis, but was superseded via Natchez.
