About Pocahontas
Pocahontas is a town in Virginia, United States. It was named for Chief Powhatan's girl, Pocahontas, who lived in the seventeenth century Jamestown Settlement. She wedded John Rolfe, and they were among the predecessors of a large number of the First Families of Virginia. The Town of Pocahontas possesses and works the Pocahontas Exhibition Mine and Museum, a National Historic Landmark and Virginia's authentic "coal legacy zone."
The "demonstrate mine," the same number of local people call it, highlights visits from resigned coal mineworkers into the notable mine that filled in as the origin of the world-renowned Pocahontas coal. This was utilized to warm homes over the United States and was the picked fuel of the United States Navy. The show mine, open from April– August every year, includes a 13-foot-tall 4.0 m coal crease. There is likewise an exhibition hall and instruction focus situated in the mine's previous powerhouse.
