Oakridge
About Oakridge
Oakridge is a city in Lane County, Oregon, United States. The populace was 3,205 as of the 2010 statistics. It is found east of Westfir on Oregon Route 58, around 40 miles east of Eugene and 150 miles southeast of Portland. Oakridge is well known with open air devotees for its climbing, mountain biking, wildflowers, fly angling, birding, watersports, and close-by Willamette Pass Resort.
The economy of Oakridge and close-by Westfir has been fixated on the railroad, the logging business, and amusement. In the twentieth century, there were two sawmills that prepared logs from close-by timberland—an Oakridge process claimed by the Pope and Talbot Lumber Company and an Edward Hines process in Westfir.
Both of the factories had shut by 1985, and the neighborhood economy declined. From that point forward it has been gradually bouncing back, with another general store opening in 2010, a bread kitchen in 2011, and a distillery and mercantile.
