Marshall

Marshall is a city in Minnesota, United States. Marshall is the base camp of the Schwan Food Company and the home of Southwest Minnesota State University.Marshall was platted in 1872 when the railroad was stretched out to that point. Lake Marshall Township had been built up in the region two years sooner, and incorporated a mail station and a few ranches. Before that, the site was sporadically utilized as a campground for gatherings of Dakota, who chased and went all through the district. After much talk, James J. Manton settled on Marshall to pay tribute to Governor William R. Marshall.The town developed quickly. In 1873, the main daily paper was distributed by Samuel Biglari, the Prairie Schooner.
