Macedonia

Macedonia is a city in Ohio, United States. The populace was 11,188 at the 2010 enumeration. Macedonia is a piece of the Akron Metropolitan Statistical Area.According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has an aggregate territory of 9.75 square miles 25.25 km2, including 9.71 square miles 25.15 km2 of land and 0.04 square miles 0.10 km2 of water.

The city's name is said to get from a little joke among eternality understudies at Western Reserve College, which in the mid nineteenth century was in Hudson, Ohio. The understudies, who were called upon to lecture in the little village 6 miles 10 km toward the north, reviewed Acts 16:10: "...we tried to go to Macedonia, inferring that the Lord had called us to lecture the gospel to them."
