About Deputy
It is a unincorporated registration assigned place in Graham Township, Jefferson County, Indiana, around 14 miles northwest of Madison, the region situate. Some portion of the region straddles into Montgomery Township, Jennings County. Appointee, Indiana was laid out as a town in March 1871 by Foster C. Wilson, the spouse of Margaret Mary Deputy and child in-law of John and Harriet Deputy.
Nearby legend - and most likely the wellspring of the town's name - demonstrates that the zone was first settled in the 1810s by ious Deputy families that moved to Clark County, Indiana from Sussex County, Delaware, presumably because of the finish of the Treaty of Fort Wayne in September 1809 which opened up lands in the Indiana region to American settlement.
