Butler is a city and the area seat of Butler County in the U.S. territory of Pennsylvania. It is found 35 miles 56 km north of Pittsburgh and part of the Greater Pittsburgh Region. As of the 2010 enumeration, the city populace was 13,757.5 Butler was named the seventh best residential community in America by Smithsonian magazine in May 2012.Butler was named for Maj. Gen. Richard Butler, who fell at the Battle of the Wabash, otherwise called St. Clair's Defeat, in western Ohio in 1791.In 1803 John and Samuel Cunningham turned into the primary pilgrims in the town of Butler. In the wake of settling in Butler, the two siblings laid out the group by drawing up plots of land for all the more approaching settlers. By 1817, the group was fused into a borough. The principal pioneers were of Irish or Scottish plunge and were driving westbound from Connecticut. In 1802 the German outsiders started landing, with Detmar Basse settling in Jackson Township in 1802 and establishing Zelienople the next year. After George Rapp touched base in 1805 and established Harmony, bigger quantities of pioneers took after. John A. Roebling settled Saxonburg in 1832, by which time the greater part of the province was loaded with German pilgrims .
