Preceding that, the group comprised of two extensive farms where logging was the fundamental business.
The motel filled in as a stop for individuals going along the Ebbetts Pass course and in addition lodging for those meeting adjacent Calaveras Big Trees State Park. In 1928, Camp Wolfeboro was built up adjacent to a Boy Scout camp and keeps on being in task today. The main mail station was opened in 1934. Bernice was its postmistress at one time.
