About Ruti
Ruti is a municipality in the district of Hinwil within the canton of Zurich in Switzerland. Jona river flows through the municipality. In 807, Ruti's zone Fagswil became first stated in a document of the Abbey of Saint Gall. In a record of the German Emperor Otto II, the municipality changed into defined as Riutun, the Old High German word for Roden to convert woodland into farmland, and later forwarded to the call of Ruti. In 1206 the Ruti Abbey became given through Liutold IV, Duke of Regensberg, and the prevailing Reformed church changed into finished to 1283.
In 1408 Ruti and the Premonstratensian monastery came as part of the so-known as Herrschaft Gruningen beneath the reign of the government of the metropolis of Zurich. In 1525 the abbey became secularized and managed as Amt Ruti through an Amtmann until 1798. In mid 16th century, Ruti were given one of the first public schools inside the canton of Zurich, hooked up by using the Zurich reformers and the former priests of the Ruti Abbey. In 1866, the first Catholic Mass in the Zurcher Oberland changed into celebrated after the Reformation; in Tann ZH politically part of the municipality Durnten, the Catholic parish church was built in 1963.
