Orbe

Orbe is a municipality in the Swiss canton of Vaud. It was the seat of the former district of Orbe and is now part of the district of Jura-Nord Vaudois Orbe is first mentioned about 280 as Urba. In 1179, it was mentioned as Orbm. Until the Middle Ages, Orbe Jougne was sitting on the street and on the street at the crossroads of two major transport routes. A jura extends from the mountain to the Alps, while the second goes from Rhine to the river Rhone. The Municipality grew on either side of the orbe Villa on the left was the Parish Church of Tavalis and Saint-Germain, while on the right there was St. Vincent of Saint-Martin with Saint-Martin.

At some point during the Middle Ages, a bridge was built across the river which joined the two settlements. The Orbe Castle and the city's market were built on the hill above the river and the bridge. There is a Nestle Research and Development factory with a work force of more than 500 employees in the city. Factory neskepage, Nespresso and Nestle are also responsible for the production of boxed cereals. The factory's share in Nestle's annual turnover is just 15%.
