Are you killing your dreams of visiting London and admiring the many wax statues at the Madame Tussauds museum? Well, it looks like the wait is over but with a new twist. The world-known Madam Tussauds museum has opened its gate for the admirers in the capital city of India-New Delhi. Inaugurated on November 30th earlier this year, the great museum is now open for public.
The museum is housed in the heritage building of Regal Cinema which was shut down earlier this year to make room for this international attraction. The entire museum is designed and structured to match the Indian curiosity and is spread over two stories.
The prime attractions of this international attraction-now in India are the wax statues of many Indian celebrities all decked up in best of their style. From Salman Khan on a rickshaw to Anil Kapoor in his magnificent self from Slumdog Millionaire, this museum gives you every reason to pay a visit.
1. Wax Figures of celebrities
Wax museum opened its door today and boasts of its 50 life-like wax statues. The statues belong to renowned National and International celebrities from the field of history, sports, music, films and politics and more. Some of the celebrities in the list include Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, David Beckham, Madhuri Dixit, Usain Bolt, Veteran actress Madhu Bala, Master-Blaster Sachin Tendulkar, Milkha Singh, Amitabh Bachchan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and many other national and international names.
2. Sections
There are different sections with wax statues and other interactive stations. The rooms or sections are divided into ious categories like sports, history, bhangra, music and a brigade of Hollywood and Bollywood celebrities.
3. Other features
There is also a take-home section from where you can buy a look-alike of the wax statues and take it home. Besides this, to make the museum accessible for all, it has been made handicap friendly. There is also a pair of functional lifts connecting both the floors to the ground.
Entire museum has 50 statues out of which 60% of the wax statues belong to Indian celebrities. To maintain these statues a team of 40 people is employed at the museum. Each of the masterpieces is created by a team of 20 experts which took them four months to complete.
Making a wax statue includes 500 measurements, inserting of hair strands one by one and adding ious coats of paint and tints to bring in the right skin color tone.
Madame Tussauds has a popular presence in many places including London, Las Vegas, New
York, Orlando, San Francisco and Hong Kong. The Madame Tussauds museum in New Delhi is
the 23 rd edition of the chain.
4. Ticket pricing & details
The Museum will remain open seven days a week Sunday to Saturday from 10 am to 7 30 pm.
The price of the ticket is INR 960 for adults & INR 760 for children.
