1. Rumtek Monastery

This is the largest monastery of Sikkim which is located at a distance of 23 kilometers from Gangtok. This monastery was built by the fourth king of Sikkim under the supervision of ninth Karmapa. It is at a height of 5000 feet above the sea level. This beautiful destination is surrounded by pretty landscapes which are worth seeing. The monetary is a treat to the eyes as it is so beautifully designed. Rumtek Monastery has an amazing architecture. The monastery is enriched with a golden stupa which contains statues and paintings which belong to the 16th Karmapa. Some of the world famous religious scriptures are a part of this place.

Tsongmo Lake is at a distance of 40 kilometers from Gangtok and is 12313 feet above the sea level. It is also known as Changu Lake or Glacial Lake. Rugged mountains surround this lake. The colour of the mountains changes with the changing season which is a beauty in itself. Buddhist monks studied the changing colour of the lake and predicted the future about it. The lake is covered with snow and is frozen during the winter season. Tourist can enjoy rides on a mule at this place. There are small huts set up near the lake which serve food and drinks to the visitors.
 

3. The Thakubari Temple

The Thakbari Temple is situated on MG Road is the Gangtok. It is one of the oldest temples in the city. It was built in 1935 by Sir Thutop Namgyal, the former Maharaja of Sikkim. This temple is dedicated to most of the Gods and Goddess of Hindu religion. It is an important place for the Hindu community of Gangtok. In 2011 the complex of the temple was upgraded by including a multipurpose hall and a library in it.
 

4. The Ganesh Tok

Ganesh Tok is a temple dedicated to Ganesha located near Tashi View point. This temple is famous among the visitors. This temple has a lot of devotees who pray to Lord Ganesha and enjoy the beautiful view. A circular balcony is there around the temple and a viewing lounge to explore the view. Majestic Mountain, rolling hills, and the whole Gangtok view can be seen from the temple.
 

5. Jawaharlal Nehru Botanical Garden

The Jawaharlal Nehru Botanical Garden is near to Rumtek Monastery. This garden is named after the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
