The terrain of Nigiri is very complex and it was quite challenging to build the railway line over the mountain. The train consists of wooden coaches in cream and blue color with large windows. The Swiss Locomotive Works designed its steam engines.
2. Doddabetta Peak

4. Ooty Lake

It stretches around the central bus stand and the railway station. It is around 2.75 km in length. John Sullivan was the one who artificially formed this lake. He is also the founder of Ooty. The mountain streams were flown down in 1823 and the lake emptied itself. Gradually, the lake was shrunken and left the area for racecourse, mini garden and the bus stand.
5. St. Stephen’s Church
It is one of the best tourist destinations at Mysore Road, Ooty. It has been touted as among the ancient and oldest churches in Nilgiri which was erected here.
