This is a wildlife sanctuary with various flora and fauna and over 150 species of animals and birds. Some of the famous ones are the Himalayan Black bear, musk deer, Himalayan Weasel, Blue Sheep, Himalayan Brown Bear, Cheer Pheasant, Koklass Pheasant, Khaleej Pheasant etc. Jujurana, or Western Tragopan, is a bird from Himachal, and this is one of its few habitats.

The waterfall is named after 'Chidku Jhaar', where 'Chidku' means sparrow and 'Jhaar' means waterfall. It is supposed that only sparrows could reach the peak of the falls. The British found the pronunciation difficult and began calling it Chadwick.
