Mirissa

Mirissa is a small city closer to the south coast of Sri Lanka. It is based in the Matara District of the Southern Province of Sri Lanka. It is located about 150 KMs south to Colombo and is situated at an elevation of 4 meters above the sea level. Mirissa is undoubtedly one of the best coastal area in the deep south of Sri Lanka. This small sandy tropical beach presents some of Sri Lanka’s best and most beautiful and attractive sunsets and sunrises. Mirissa is one of biggest fishing port on the south coastal area and is famous for its different iety of fishes like- tuna, mullet, snapper and butterfish. All the Guest Houses in Mirissa are established in a way that it gives the impression that you are on a deserted palm fringed island, as these are set back from the real beach. Almost every second the silence is broken here by the sound of a coconut falling on the sand. In addition, Mirissa is equally popular for its beaches and night life along with one of the island's main whale and dolphin watching locations, which makes it a popular tourist location in Sri Lanka.. The famous Sri Sunandarama Temple is also closely located to Mirissa.
